DARREN
(Drums/Backing Vocals)

Darren (‘Monkeyman’ to his friends) tells us that he really started drumming when he originally joined The Eager Beavers  way back in 1989 (he had hair then!).

His musical tastes have been greatly influenced by such greats as Elvis, Bill Haley, The Stray Cats and a whole host of 50’s/60’s Rock ‘n Roll/Rockabilly legends.
Over the years Darren has played different instruments with a number of Midlands based bands including Some Kinda Earthquake (Trumpet), Booze Brothers (Trumpet), the original Eager Beavers (Drums), MAN (Drums), Elliott Simmons and the Billionaires (Double Bass) and more recently Special Brew (drums).

Some of the many highlights of Darren’s musical career include the occasion when as a youth he played Trumpet at the Royal Albert Hall, being featured on a Channel 4 TV documentary about 2 TONE life and playing at The Electric Ballroom, Camden.  He can also boast of having supported many greats including The JETS, Flying Saucers, Bay City Rollers, Showaddywaddy, Selector and The BEAT.  One of his fondest memories is actually playing with a number of the original SPECIALS.

In terms of musical ambition Darren wants to ‘be as good as possible, as often as possible and enjoy what he does’.

Asked to comment on re-joining The Eager Beavers Darren says that it is good to be back to his roots and playing with good friends and musicians.
